Sustainable Livelihoods Empowering lives through sustainable livelihoods
Enriching lives by creating livelihood opportunities for the less privileged is a key focus area for us. Our projects aim at empowering the underprivileged to improve their quality of life.
The Jaipur Foot: In association with the NGO Jaipur Foot, we have touched the lives of over 26,000 differently-abled individuals. The gift of a Jaipur Foot is often the first step to independent living for many who otherwise have to go through life with a disadvantage.
Vocational skills building: Over 3,200 youth were trained through our project in Nashik, Maharashtra, India, that focused on enhancing the employability of youth. Our NGO partner Kherwadi Social Welfare Association helps the youngsters build their vocational skills such as basic of computer, mobile repairing, tailoring, grooming, nursing and personality development. All these efforts resulted in a workforce of youth who were ready for employment.
A similar project in Rayagada, Orissa, India, implemented through our NGO partner, Professional Assistance for Development Action (PRADAN) focuses on building income generating potential for people living in the tribal areas of the region. We help them adopt to new technologies in farming and other allied activities with the help of an organization called Integrated Natural Resource Management.
These activities include land levelling, building farm ponds, small earthen check dams, constructing ring wells and encouraging horticulture.
Through our efforts in creating new avenues of income generation we have improved the lives of over 2,000 tribal families, so far.
