The Research and Development centre based at Sinnar, Nashik is spread over 30,000 sq feet area and engaged in developing Specialty/ Branded formulations for Global markets. Formulation development is carried out to produce stable, clinically safe and effective formulation of high quality standards. Different formulations are being developed to meet unmet needs and specific regulatory requirement of various regulatory agencies. This R&D centre also focuses on Novel Drug Delivery Systems(NDDS).

The facility has a well–equipped state–of–art Formulation and Analytical Development facility for all dosage forms.

The various dosage forms developed at this R&D facility are Tablets (conventional, chewable dispersible, mouth dissolving, extended release, enteric coated etc.), Capsules, Liquids (solution, suspension, syrups etc), Semi-solids (ointment, cream, gel, lotion, Shampoo etc), Parenterals (Lyophilized and liquid), and Aerosols focusing on therapeutic categories like anti-hypertensive, anti-psychotic, anti-convulsant, anti-depressant, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-psoriasis, anti-acne, Respiratory, Metabolic disorders, Oncology etc.

This Research Centre also makes patent applications for the novel technologies being developed.

There is a dedicated facility to develop HFA based MDI products (Pressurised Metered Dose Inhalers), it includes different manufacturing equipments like Vapor Purger, Crimper, Propellant Charger, Product Filler etc. and Quality Control equipments like Andersen Cascade Impactor, HPLC, Karl Fischer Coulometer etc.

This Research Center also has the capability to develop Injections and Liposomal products with different manufacturing equipments like Lyophilizer, Laminar airflow unit, Peristaltic pump, Dry heat sterilizer, Autoclave, Rotary evaporator, High pressure homoziniser, Tangential flow filtration system etc. and Quality Control equipments like Osmometer, HPLC, pH meter, UV spectrophotometer, Malvern particle size analyzer, Flame photometer, Karl Fischer Coulometer etc.

Presently various NDDS projects are under development which includes innovative formulation as pegylated liposomes, dry powder inhaler, and nasal spray.

The research team which comprises of nearly 70 Scientists has varied educational qualifications (Ph.D., M. Pharm. and M. Sc.). The team comprises of formulation development scientists, analytical development scientists, packaging development scientist and the technology transfer group.
